On 14 May, The Haufe Group Network had its first offline event, Blockchain Lab, to explore possibilities of using distributed ledger technologies (Blockchain technology) for Haufe Group products. It was a business driven workshop where we discussed and analyzed ideas from seven teams.

To be honest, not many of those ideas were convincing nor did they offer business value.
The idea that emerged from working on blockchain, is to create an Openbadge service for education certificates. Markus Lobreyer markus.lobreyer@haufe-lexware.com and his team are working to deploy the first version in Q2 2019.
In a possible future step, Open Badges are to be combined with the Blockchain. Read the following article for more information.

We plan to schedule a workshop with the topic Blockchain. First workshop will be business driven. It is scheduled for the 14th of May 2018. Codecentric will help us a as external experts to challenge our business ideas to use blockchain technology.
Why?
The Blockchain technology is hard to grasp and understand. It is very interesting for us because there are a lot of possible opportunities that fits to our business. The most popular Blockchain solution is the cryptocurrency bitcoin.

What is Blockchain?
A Blockchain is a digitized, decentralized, public ledger of all digital (often cryptocurrency) transactions. It allows market participants to keep track of digital transactions without central record keeping or authority. The Blockchain is immutable. You cannot change the entries. You can only add entries. The Blockchain is unhackable.

- Topic "Smart contracts" implemented with Blockchain technology was a business idea in the Hackathon from Nov. 2017. Not much other effort till now. We must put more effort in the discovery of the technology.
